Champaign Police Investigate Home Invasion (2000 Block of N. Mattis)

The Champaign Police Department is investigating a home invasion. The incident took place in an apartment complex, located in the 2000 block of N. Mattis Avenue, on January 21, 2014, at approximately 12:46 p.m.

Reports indicate that three unknown masked males entered an apartment and robbed three men at gunpoint. All three offenders displayed handguns. An employee of the apartment complex was contacted after a resident reported overhearing a robbery taking place in one of the apartments. When the employee went to the apartment to investigate, he, along with two of the apartment’s residents, were tied up and robbed. None reported being injured during the incident.

All three offenders then fled from the apartment and were last seen traveling in a two-door white vehicle, last seen heading eastbound on Bloomington Road. Police are currently attempting to locate the offenders, who are described as black males in their early 20’s, wearing black ski or facial masks, black and/or dark-colored hooded shirts, and blue jeans,
