The Public Works Department closed Olympian Drive from Market Street to Prospect Ave. the evening of July 2nd due to a pavement blow-up. The concrete pavement for both the east and west bound traffic lanes buckled to an extent that made the traffic lanes not safe to travel. Pavement blow-ups occur due to extreme expansive forces within the concrete pavement resulting from excessive heat. An emergency was declared and Feutz Construction began pavement repairs the following morning on July 3rd. Using high early strength concrete, the repair can be completed within 24 to 48 hours and the road reopened to traffic.
