On Monday, June 18, Stark Excavating began work on the North Fourth Street Extension project. This project will improve the intersection of Bradley Avenue and Fourth Street, and will extend Fourth Street approximately 450 feet, past the northern edge of Burch Village. The project will increase safety in the area, improve access to Burch Village, and help facilitate local development. Improvements include a 42-feet wide street pavement, sidewalks and new streetlights.
Initially, work will focus on tree and fence removal, as well as building demolition. Later in the project, lane closures will be necessary. Delays may occur, but, with few exceptions, traffic will be maintained on Bradley Avenue throughout the duration of the project. The narrow lane that connects Nathaniel Burch Drive to the alley immediately south will be closed for the duration of the project. Each will be connected to the Fourth Street extension as part of this project. The project is expected to be completed by September 14, 2012.
