Champaign police are currently searching for a robbery suspect who entered the Hickory Point Bank Friday afternoon and demanded money.
Police were notified at 3:06 PM that a man entered the bank and implied that he had a weapon. He handed the teller a note and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect was last seen heading northbound on Peach Street from Devonshire Drive.
There were eight employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. None reported being physically harmed.
The suspect is described as dark-skinned black male, mid-twenties, with a “thin” beard, and wearing a white hat with a hairnet underneath. He was also wearing a white shirt with baggy blue jeans.
Police are currently searching for the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
