CGTV – Champaign Government Television
Keeping You Connected with Your Local Government
Champaign Government Television (CGTV) is the City of Champaign’s government access channel which provides video programming about City deliberations, functions, services, programs, and activities directly to the public. CGTV also shares videos and information received from other local government agencies. CGTV runs live and replayed meeting and other video programming to educate and inform the City’s residents and visitors. CGTV is not a public access channel and does not run programming or announcements provided by the general public.

CGTV is Closed Captioned in English and Foreign Languages
Since January 2022, all new City-produced programming has been made available with English closed captions. Closed captioning is the process of displaying the audio portion of a video program on screen, which can improve the accessibility and comprehension of the programming content. Captions are available to anyone who chooses to use this feature already built into web browsers, TVs, and set top boxes/tuners.
In July 2024, the City also began offering captions in Spanish, French, and Korean for all newly produced, on-demand video programming. Viewers watching LIVE programming (webstream of cable) can also choose to view captions in English or Spanish.
Closed captions and translations are created automatically using artificial intelligence software similar to that used in phones and other smart products. Please understand the software isn’t perfect and that some captioning and translation mistakes are to be expected.
