The City of Champaign’s Snapshot: Year in Review highlights the many accomplishments of our City departments over the past year.   • 7,489 meals & 9,884 shelter days provided through the Municipalities for Asylum Seeker Services Grant

  • 375 “text to 9-1-1” messages
  • 4,654 alarm calls through the ASAP-to-PSAP technology
  • 34,579 fire calls for service, 11,386 to the Champaign Fire Department
  • 139,091 police calls for service, 44,766 to the Champaign Police Department
  • 151,352 non-emergency calls

Building Safety Division

  • 1,376 building permits issued
  • 3,573 building safety inspections
  • 2,818 mechanical systems permits issued

  • $375,000 awarded to 35 businesses through rounds one and two of the New and Growing Business Program
  • 25 Enterprise Zone projects approved, retaining 600+ jobs, creating 180 new jobs, and generating $13 million in private investment.
  • $630,000 in Tax Increment Financing Assistance to spur over $4M in private investment
