About Michael Foellmer
I grew up a son of two teachers in Plainfield, IL and moved to Champaign in 2008 to pursue a degree at the University of Illinois. I eventually married my partner in 2014 and we adopted a daughter in 2017. We have built a close-knit community of friends and family in the C-U area and enjoy spending time with all of them and their children.
My education backgrounds include Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Economics and Higher Education, respectively. I am currently employed as an Academic Advisor in the College of Education–I previously served as the Assistant Director for the Labor Education Program in the School of Labor and Employment Relations at the University of Illinois and appreciated working with members of our community and engaging in meaningful conversations about labor.
In my current role as the Treasurer of Uniting Pride of Champaign County, I enjoy the opportunity to work with members of the LGBTQ+ community of Champaign. I look forward to continuing to serve the city and its residents in my role as a council member and I encourage you to reach out to me so we can have a coffee and talk about your priorities for our city.
