Hazardous Materials Incident – 3200 Farber Dr.

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a potential hazardous materials incident at 3200 Farber Dr., Wednesday, May 11th at 12:41 p.m. Fire crews have been able to prevent any product release.

Firefighters responded to a report from a commercial occupancy of an overheating 55-gallon drum of aluminum powder suspended in water. Once on the scene, fire crews found three 55-gallon drums of product, that were stored outside, were overheating, and beginning to boil. Firefighters have deployed a single unmanned line to cool the containers and prevent any product from being released.

There were no firefighter or employee injuries reported and no evacuation needed. The incident did not pose a threat to the environment or surrounding community.
