Shooting Investigation – E Beardsley Avenue/N Fourth Street

On Feb. 7, 2021, at approximately 5:28 a.m., Champaign Police responded to a local hospital for the report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, officers learned a 48-year-old male arrived at the hospital by personal transport with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his left leg.

Preliminary information suggests the victim was walking in the area of E Beardsley Avenue and N Fourth Street when he was struck by gunfire.

Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
