Shooting Investigation – 400 Block of Louisiana Avenue

On Oct. 26, 2020, at approximately 11: 55 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the 400 block of Louisiana Avenue for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned two individuals were struck by gunfire and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old female suffered a gunshot wound to her upper right thigh and a 20-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his lower right leg.

The preliminary investigation indicates the two victims were walking westbound in the 400 block of Louisiana Avenue when they were approached by a moving vehicle and fired upon by an unknown offender.

Champaign Police do not currently believe this incident is related to the shooting that occurred earlier today (Oct. 26) at approximately 12:55 a.m. in the 1000 Block of Holiday Drive.

Any resident or business in the nearby areas with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
