The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a condemned multi-family apartment building in the 100 block of Kenwood Rd., Saturday, July 5, at 10:31 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
Firefighters responded to a report from a passerby of a fire in this three-story apartment building. Once on the scene, crews reported smoke and fire coming from a third-story apartment and quickly upgraded the incident to a working fire. Firefighters initially attacked the fire with the deck gun on the fire engine then transitioned in to the building with multiple hose lines.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as fire investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported.
