The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire inside a home at 3007 W. William St., November 26, 2022, at 12:38 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished a small fire inside this single-family home.
Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire in this single-story home. Once on the scene, firefighters reported moderate smoke coming from the front door of the home. The occupant in the home at the time of the fire was outside waiting for first responders upon arrival. Fire crews deployed a single hose line and extinguished the fire primarily contained to the basement laundry room.
The cause of this fire is accidental and has been attributed to a dehumidifier in the basement of the home. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
