Kirby Avenue Lane Closure at I-57 Overpass

In order to complete four soil borings for the Illinois Department of Transportation, BFW Engineering & Consulting, Inc. will have one lane of Kirby Avenue closed to traffic between Cobblefield Drive and Maynard Drive.  Traffic will be directed by two flaggers, one stationed at each end of the lane closure. Drivers may want to seek alternate routes to avoid delays.

Work is planned during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 through Friday, March 27, 2026.  The work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather.

The soil borings are related to the design for the replacement of the current structure over Interstate 57.  Construction of the overpass currently appears in FY 2027 of IDOT’s multi-year plan.

Please pay close attention to traffic control devices and flaggers and proceed cautiously through the work zone.  The City of Champaign and Illinois Department of Transportation thank you for your cooperation and patience while this work is being performed.
