March Community Coalition Meeting Highlights

The Champaign County Community Coalition held its monthly meeting, where local law enforcement shared recent crime trends and upcoming community engagement events. The I Am Helen Strong chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America shared an overview of the foundation’s overall goals regarding diagnosis, treatment, and access to services. They also announced their Lupus Awareness Walk, scheduled for August. The Campus Community Compact (CCC) provided an overview of current community partnerships and opportunities to create new partnerships. The CCC announced that UIUC’s TEACH Academy 2026 is now open for registration. The City of Champaign’s new Clinical Manager, Dr. Regina Parnell, presented an overview of the Co-Responder Model and introduced the new Behavioral Health Advocates. Mamadou Tounkara provided an overview of CUPHD’s key priorities, mission and vision, and the services offered through the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District.
