The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire outside a single-family residence in the 600 Block of N James St., Monday, July 7, 2025, at 4:25 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.
Firefighters responded to a report from an occupant of a fire outside this single-story home. Once on the scene, crews reported moderate smoke coming from the rear of the home. Firefighters deployed a single hose line and were able to quickly extinguish the fire before it extended into the home.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
