On May 3, 2025, the 11th annual ‘Smoke Alarm Blitz’ mobilized over 60 dedicated volunteers. This significant community initiative honors lives lost in residential fires and proactively works to prevent future tragedies. Volunteers canvassed the neighborhoods surrounding Spalding Park, distributing 125 informational bags containing fire safety literature and guidance on scheduling smoke alarm installations. Critically, the teams gained access to 21 homes, where they successfully installed 58 smoke alarms. This event continues its strong tradition of service, with aspirations for continued growth. We extend our sincere gratitude to the E&E and NSD staff, CFD firefighters, and volunteers who contributed to this vital cause. Special recognition is due to the Fire Chief Andy Quarnstrom, Mayor Fienen, Council Member Vanna Pianfetti, and Senator Paul Faraci for their support.
