Champaign County Clerk, Aaron Ammons, delivered an informative presentation on the complex process of expungement. This session was particularly valuable for attendees who may have faced legal challenges or had family members with past criminal records. Ammons demystified the expungement process, explaining the eligibility criteria and the potential benefits of clearing one’s record. This direct access to expert guidance offered practical solutions and hope for individuals seeking a fresh start.
Additionally, it provided a platform for students to explore the impactful contributions of historical Black figures to society. By highlighting the resilience, innovation, and leadership of historical Black figures, the event enabled students to imagine themselves as active participants in positive change, both within their community and beyond.
