The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a multi-family apartment complex in the 2100 block of W. White St., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:41 a.m. Fire crews remain on scene working to extinguish any remaining hot spots.
Firefighters responded to multiple reports of a fire in this three-story apartment building. Once on the scene, firefighters reported heavy fire coming from the third floor and extending into the attic. Crews identified the structure as condemned and quickly extended multiple hose lines to work to extinguish the fire. Firefighters encountered heavy fire while searching the building and fighting the fire. A second alarm was called and crews exited the building in a defensive strategy.
The cause of this fire is not determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There have been no firefighter injuries reported.
