The City is excited to announce the expansion of closed captioning services for CGTV – the City’s government access channel. The City began captioning all its video programming in English in 2022, but this summer CGTV also began offering captions in other languages as well. Viewers watching on-demand videos recorded after July 1, 2024, can now choose from English, Spanish, French, and Korean captions. Viewers watching LIVE programming via the live stream or cable TV can choose to view captions in English or Spanish. These languages were selected after reviewing Champaign’s latest Census data and consulting with local service providers.
This new service reflects the City’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring that more residents have access to important information about City functions and services in a preferred language. By offering these additional language options, the City aims to foster a more inclusive community where everyone can stay informed and engaged with City business.
