The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home in the 1300 block of Joanne Ln., Thursday, April 11, at 3:02 p.m. Fire crews were able to quickly get the fire under control.
Firefighters responded to a report from a neighbor of a fire in this single-story home. Once on the scene, fire crews reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the residence. The occupant was outside at the time the Fire Department arrived, suffering from serious burns. Firefighters provided medical attention to the occupant and deployed multiple hose lines and worked to extinguish the fire. A neighboring home sustained damage from the heat of the fire.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported. The occupant was treated on scene and AirLife was requested to intercept the ambulance to transport the victim to the hospital. The home was heavily damaged by the fire.
