City Named a Tree City USA for 39th Year

The City is proud to announce it has been named a 2023 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of our commitment to effective management of our urban forest.  The City received the Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements:  Having a forestry division, a tree care ordinance, an annual forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance.  This is the 39th year the City has been honored as a Tree City USA.

Tree City USA Growth logo The City also received a Tree City USA Growth Award for the 16th year.  This award is presented by the Arbor Day Foundation to participating Tree City USA communities that demonstrate higher levels of tree care and community engagement during the calendar year.

City trees provide many benefits – clean air, clean water, shade, and beauty to name a few, but they also require an investment to remain healthy and sustainable.
