The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home in the 1400 block of Briarwood Dr., Tuesday, February 13, at 1:18 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire that originated in the bedroom.
Firefighters responded to a report from a passerby of a fire in this split-level residence. Once on the scene, fire crews reported fire coming from an upper-level window. Firefighters deployed a single hose line and kept the fire from extending outside the bedroom.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported. Firefighters rescued one dog from the residence while a second perished.
