In order to construct a new sanitary sewer through portions of South Downtown Champaign, Stark Excavating will be closing the viaduct on Springfield Avenue between Market Street and Water Street. Water Street and Locust Street will be accessible from westbound Springfield Avenue. Market Street will be accessible from the north, but it will have no access on Springfield Avenue for this phase of the project.
The new closure will begin on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and is expected to last several weeks. This work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. More lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project.
