In order to construct a new sanitary sewer through portions of South Downtown Champaign, Stark Excavating will be closing the First Street and Springfield Avenue intersection. Drivers will be able to turn onto west bound Springfield Avenue from south bound First Street, but all other directions will not be accessible.
The new closure will begin September 5, 2023, and is expected to last several weeks. This work is weather dependent and may be delayed in the event of inclement weather. More lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project.
