In an event held August 24, 2023, at the CityView Events and Meeting Center, Champaign Firefighter Whitney Anderson was named one of Girl Scouts of Central Illinois’ 2023 Women of Distinction.
This year marked the debut of Camp Fury, which offers a high-adventure experience in the life of first responders. The camp is for high-school-age Girl Scouts and was held at Camp Kiwanis at Lake of the Woods. This new program helped highlight the lives and careers of five area female first responders who were named as their 2023 Women of Distinction. This is their 31st event honoring Women of Distinction.
