In order to construct a new sanitary sewer through portions of South Downtown Champaign, Stark Excavating will be closing the eastbound lane of Springfield Avenue between First Street and Second Street. Stark has already placed detour signs along the detour route. Work will begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, and the lane will be closed at that time. The lane closure is expected to last several weeks. More lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project.
