In order to construct a new sanitary sewer through portions of South Downtown Champaign, Stark Excavating (Stark) will begin preparations for the first phase of construction starting along Springfield Avenue between the Springfield Avenue railroad bridge/viaduct and Second Street.
Starting August 2, 2023, Stark will be placing message boards that will announce upcoming work in the area. They will also begin installing traffic control measures and detour signage. Upcoming lane and/or road closures will be announced throughout the phases of the project. This phase is expected to be completed by December 2023.
