Through the University of Illinois and Champaign Community Unit 4 School District, the City welcomed 19 interns and Youth Employment Services (YES) students to join our staff this summer. These students were able to see the ins-and-outs of how the City works while getting hands on experience in eight different departments. On July 20, the City hosted an end of summer celebration to thank the students for all of their hard work and allow them to get to know staff outside of their departments. The event had a variety of yard games, a full picnic spread, and encouraging words from the City Manager as these students take their next steps. We are excited to continue this partnership that supports youth in our community.
