On March 8, 202, International Women’s Day (IWD) was celebrated around the world. This day is a focal point in the women’s rights movement, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. The theme of IWD 2023 was #EmbraceEquity, a campaign to get the world talking about why equal opportunities aren’t enough. The City’s Equity and Engagement Department asked for staff participation in this day of awareness and City staff did not disappoint! We had a whopping 71 staff members participate, submitting 25 photos across 7 different departments for #EmbraceEquity! We are so grateful to staff who took the time to showcase how much the City of Champaign works to embrace everyone who calls this place home!
