The Champaign and Urbana Fire Departments responded to a fire inside a tank undergoing removal at 1117 S. Oak St., December 7, at 9:26 a.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire contained to the tank.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire inside a tank. Once on the scene, firefighters reported a small smoldering fire within the tank. Fire crews deployed a single hose line and quickly extinguished the fire.
The cause of this fire is accidental and was attributed to hot work to dismantle the tank. There were no staff or firefighter injuries reported because of this fire.
