The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fully involved, large detached garage fire at 112 E. Hill St., December 3, 2022, at 8:50 p.m. This fire spread to the single-family home, also at that address. Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire in both the single-family home and detached garage.
Firefighters responded to a report from a passerby of a fully involved structure fire. Once on the scene, firefighters reported a fully involved structure fire, beginning to extend to the adjacent two-story home. This fire was quickly upgraded to a second alarm. Fire crews deployed multiple hose lines and utilized master stream devices to extinguish the fires.
The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on the scene conducting their investigation. The occupants were not home at the time the fire started. There were no firefighter injuries reported. The occupants of the home will be displaced because of the damage.
