Residential Fire – 2004 Lynwood Dr.

The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a crawl space at 2004 Lynwood Dr., Tuesday, December 7, at 12:37 p.m. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire in this single-family home.

Firefighters responded to a report of light smoke in this one-story residence called in by the occupants. Once on the scene, fire crews reported light smoke outside the home and went inside to investigate. Firefighters found a small fire in the crawl space and declared a working fire. Crews deployed multiple hose lines and extinguished the fire.

This fire started in the crawl space and was accidental. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported. The occupants will be displaced as a result of the damage.

The Champaign Fire Department reminds everyone to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
