Shooting Investigation – 1800 block of Joanne Lane

On June 2, 2021, at approximately 5:15 p.m., Champaign Police responded to the 1800 block of Joanne Lane for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an 18-year-old male suffering from a single life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was outside standing next to a motor vehicle when another motor vehicle approached, fired a single shot from inside the vehicle, and fled the scene.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Future updates may be provided as they become available.
