LIFT Champaign Program Presented to City Council

On April 20th City staff (Joan Walls, Deputy City Manager; Rachel Joy and Tracy Parsons, Community Relations Managers & Compliance Officers and Unit 4 School District staff (Angela L. Ward, Assistant Superintendent of Equity & Community Engagement; Orlando Thomas, Executive Director of School Supports and Choice; and Katina Wilcher, Director of Student, Family & Community Engagement) provided City Council with an overview of the proposed LIFT Champaign Program (Leading Individuals and Families to Transformation), a partnership between the City and the Unit 4, to improve the lives of African American youth and their families. The program will provide intense wrap-around support services and the necessary resources to build on the strengths of the students and their families and to help them achieve personal, academic, career, and interpersonal goals.
