On Oct. 13, 2020, at approximately 9 p.m., Champaign Police responded to CVS, located at 101 W. Green Street, for reports of an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned a subject entered the business in possession of a long gun and demanded money from a store employee. The suspect fled the business with an undisclosed amount of currency, leaving westbound on a bicycle. No injuries have been reported to Champaign Police and there is currently no evidence a firearm was discharged during the commission of the armed robbery.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and possibly in his 30s. He was seen wearing a white stocking cap over a black cap, black sunglasses, a dark hoodie, dark shorts, white socks and white flip-flops. He was also wearing a green or black backpack.
Any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.
