Shooting Investigation – Hickory Street and Bellefontaine Street

On Oct. 4, 2020, at approximately 12:37 a.m., Champaign Police responded to the area of Hickory Street and Bellefontaine Street for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 31-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to a lower extremity. Officers provided medical aid and the victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The preliminary investigation suggests there was a disagreement that led to the victim being shot. The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time. Future updates may be provided as they become available.

Any resident or business in the nearby areas with exterior surveillance camera systems is encouraged to contact the police department. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.
