Arrest Made in Sept. 7 Shooting Investigation – 100 Block of Kenwood Road

On Sept. 18, 2020, at approximately 11:31 a.m., Champaign Police arrested Ketone Lavell Bryant, 20, of Champaign, for his alleged involvement in the shooting of a 27-year-old male on Sept. 7, 2020. Bryant was arrested without incident in the 300 block of West Marketview Drive in Champaign, and he was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center where he is awaiting future court proceedings.

On Sept. 7, 2020, at approximately 9:16 p.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to a local hospital for the report of a shooting victim who had arrived by personal transport. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 27-year-old male with two gunshot injuries. The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the 100 block of Kenwood Road following a verbal and physical altercation outside of an apartment complex.

Although an arrest has been made, this is still an active investigation. Anyone with additional information is asked to please contact police at 217-351-4545.
