ARREST MADE: Shooting Investigation – 2100 Block of West White Street

On June 25, 2020, at approximately 12:58 p.m., Champaign Police arrested Carlos Jones, 18, of Champaign, without incident at the intersection of White Street and Country Fair Drive for his alleged involvement in the shooting of two 16-year-old males on June 23. A firearm was recovered during his arrest. Jones was transported to the Champaign County Correctional Center where he is awaiting future court proceedings.

On June 23, 2020, at approximately 3:38 p.m., Champaign Police responded to an apartment complex parking lot in the 2100 block of West White Street for a reported shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male who had sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body. Officers provided medical attention and the victim was ultimately transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.

At approximately 4:31 p.m., Officers were alerted a second victim, a 16-year-old male, arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower body.
