The Neighborhood Services Department hosted its first virtual Neighborhood Leaders Forum via zoom on May 13th. The meeting provided an opportunity to virtually connect with leaders from 23 registered groups representing neighborhoods throughout the City for Champaign.
Champaign Police provided an update regarding policing priorities and operational changes in response to COVID-19. Neighborhood Coordination shared information on virtual engagement platforms neighborhood groups could utilize to engage with neighbors online. Additionally, they provided small grant funding information and encouraged groups to develop COVID – 19 safety precautions when implementing projects. NSD-Code Compliance provided an update to the neighborhood leaders regarding operational changes and enforcement priorities during the upcoming summer and fall.
NSD Coordination Division will host a monthly meeting for registered neighborhood groups to share information and resources; while also providing an opportunity for peer to peer engagement amongst group leaders and neighborhood volunteers.
