In order to perform routine storm sewer maintenance activities, Hoerr Construction, Inc. will have lane closures in Downtown Champaign along Main Street, Neil Street, and Walnut Street. The operations will take place during the daytime hours and no overnight closures are required. Details for the lane closures and dates are provided below.
March 9, 2020: First, one lane of Walnut Street will be closed at Main Street. Northbound traffic on Walnut Street will be merged into a single lane through a short work zone between Taylor Street and Main Street. Two metered parking spaces on the east side of Walnut Street will be utilized for equipment access and will not be available for parking during the operation.
Second, operations will take place along the center line of Main Street between Neil Street and Market Street. No full lane closures are planned for this work. Traffic will be shifted into adjacent parking lanes through the work zone. Metered parking spaces on Main Street and the loading zone at 1 Main Street will be closed during the operation to allow for traffic flow.
This work is scheduled to take place on Monday, March 9, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
March 10, 2020: Two lane closures are planned. First, eastbound Main Street just east of Neil Street will be closed. Eastbound traffic on Main Street will be detoured south onto Neil Street.
Second, one lane of Neil Street will be closed just north of Main Street, and southbound traffic on Neil Street will be merged into a single lane through the work zone. In addition, southbound traffic on Neil Street will not be allowed to turn left onto Main Street. The loading zone at 1 East Main will be closed as well. Operations will begin at 9 a.m. and are anticipated to be completed by 3 p.m. on March 10.
