Champaign continues to prove to be a great place to live, work, and play, as the City of Champaign’s Building Safety Division processed $252,890,006 in construction permits during 2019. That makes 2019 the second-highest year on record, second only to 2007 when the City processed $305 million of construction permits.
During 2019, the Building Safety Division issued 3,047 permits, including 489 building permits and 2,558 mechanical permits. The Division also conducted 2,512 plan reviews and 9,238 inspections last year.
Continued commercial and residential growth and development in Champaign is only possible thanks to the vision and guidance of the City Council and the hard work of all City staff who are dedicated to serving Champaign’s residents and visitors.
