Award Recipients Announced for the 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration

Four prestigious community awards will be presented to individuals and organizations that uphold the principles and ideals of Dr. King during the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration on January 17, 2020.

The 2020 award recipients include:
• Pastor Rickey E. Parks – Winner of the Doris Hoskins Prestigious Community Service Award
• Austin’s Place – Winner of the James R. Burgess, Jr. – Susan Freiburg Humanitarian Award
• Nathaniel L. Dixon and New American Welcome Center – Winners of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award

These award recipients will be honored at the event on Friday, January 17, 2020, at The Vineyard Church, 1500 N. Lincoln Ave., Urbana. A public reception in their honor will be held starting at 3:00 p.m. with the program following at 4:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The celebration will also feature a keynote address by Dr. Sampson Davis, an emergency medicine physician and inspirational leader, and musical entertainment by The Nfinite Soul Band featuring Erica Jae and Ed Greene.

The 2020 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Countywide Celebration is sponsored by the City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County, Parkland College, the University of Illinois, and the Village of Rantoul.
