Warrant Issued in Oct. 5, 2019, Shooting Investigation

Jerry Exum 2019Champaign Police have identified Jerry D. Exum (pictured), 30, of Champaign, as the suspect in an Oct. 5, 2019, shooting investigation and are now enlisting public support to help locate him.

On Oct. 5, 2019, at approximately 11:43 p.m., Champaign Police were called to the parking lot of a private business in the 1900 block of West Bradley Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered a 25-year-old male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police rendered aid to the victim who was ultimately transported to the hospital. A short time later, police were notified a second victim, a 32-year-old male, arrived at an area hospital via private vehicle with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Both victims are expected to survive the shooting.

In connection to the shooting, an arrest warrant has been issued for Exum for the offense of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm. Bond on the warrant was set at $500,000.

Exum is described as a black male, 6 feet 5 inches tall and approximately 220 pounds with brown eyes.
