2020 Census Information

In preparation for the upcoming 2020 Census, The Census Bureau will be conduction address canvassing in neighborhoods throughout Champaign County between August 4, 2019 and October 18, 2019. Census workers will be checking to ensure that all addresses are accurate for the official census count on April 1, 2020. These Census workers will have official Census 2020 identification and materials. For more information click here.

The Census is currently hiring Census workers for local office and in-field positions in Champaign County. Full time, part time and flexible hours are available. Please contact the Census Bureau at www.2020census.gov/jobs or 1-855-JOB-2020 for more information on how to apply.

There are also exciting updates to the 2020 Census. For the first time the Census will be encouraging citizens to respond online. If they so choose, citizens may also respond by phone or paper form. The Census will be available in 13 languages.

It is important that everyone that lives in our community of April 1, 2020 responds to the Census and is counted. Everyone living in the household on April 1, 2020 should be counted. This includes, extended family, friends, and children. A complete Census Count is crucial as it is tied to many things such as:

· Drawing federal, state and local legislative districts

· Distributing over $675 billion in federal and state funds for social services, schools, hospitals, etc.

· Reapportioning seats in the House of Representatives
