Approximately 20 prospective applicants braved the frigid temperatures January 23 to attend the 2019 Police Officer Recruitment Informational Meeting at the Champaign Police Department. Chief Anthony Cobb welcomed everyone and provided an overview of the Champaign Police Department, followed by an overview of the 2019 Police Recruitment process by HR Specialist Karen Hampton. Then a panel of presenters discussed specific topics, including Officer Jordan Wells – Police Training Institute (PTI), Sgt. Greg Manzana – Field Training, Officer Carmine Romano – New Officer Perspective, Officer Leslie Kerr – Female Officer Perspective, and Sgt. Geoff Coon – Specialized Training Units.
