Janet Maupin (Deputy Fire Marshal, Champaign Fire Department) received the Life Safety Award at the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance’s 78th annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon on October 11, 2018. The Life Safety Award is given to an organization, department, or individual that has achieved a pattern of excellence in bringing life safety into the lives of others. Janet received this award as a result of her planning and execution of numerous smoke alarm blitzes which resulted in the installation of more than 1,100 alarms in over 300 Champaign homes. This is in addition to her work educating those residents on fire safety and prevention. Congratulations Janet!
