The Champaign Fire Department responded to a working fire at 4809 W. Windsor Rd Lot A10, Thursday, July 5, 2018, at 3:46 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, fire crews saw flames coming from the roof of the mobile home. Suppression efforts began immediately.
A neighbor discovered the fire after seeing flames coming from the home. The residents were not home at the time of the fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene and deployed hose lines inside the residence to quickly extinguish the fire found in the mobile home. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains undetermined as investigators continue their scene examination. The two occupants of the home have been displaced because of this fire.
The Champaign Fire Department reminds all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence and to have and practice a home escape plan. Smoke alarms can provide early notification when seconds count.
