Arbor Day Recognition

In honor of Arbor Day 2018, Public Works Forestry staff will plant a tree with students from Central High School on Friday, April 27 at 12:40 p.m. The planting will take place in front of the school on 610 W. University Avenue. The tree is replacing an ash tree that was removed due to Emerald Ash Borer. The City of Champaign is celebrating its 33rd anniversary as a member of the Tree City USA Program. Both the Arbor Day and the Tree City USA programs are run by the Arbor Day Foundation.

The Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit conservation and education association, formed in 1972 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first Arbor Day, its mission is to inspire people to plant, celebrate, and nurture trees.
