Police Ask for Assistance in Homicide Investigation – 1300 Block of Sunset Drive

This afternoon, at approximately 12:26 PM, Champaign Police Officers responded to the 1300 block of Sunset Dr., after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police located an unknown Black male, approximately 25-35 years old, with a life-threatening gunshot wound.  The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital, where he would later succumb to his injuries.

Champaign Police are actively working to identify the victim and investigate this incident. Detectives are requesting to speak with anyone who may have been in the nearby area at the time of the report, and will arrange to speak privately with anyone who has information regarding the shooting.
