Champaign Receives Tree City USA Designation for 33rd Year

The City of Champaign has been designated as a Tree City USA for 2017. The City has received this designation, sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the USDA Forest Service, the USDA Urban and Community Forestry Program, and  the National Association of State Foresters, annually since 1984. To be designated as a Tree City USA, cities must have a tree department (PWD Forestry Section), a tree care ordinance, a forestry program with a budget of at least $2 per capita, and observe Arbor Day.
